Lately I have been coveting a Ginger Jar, a huge blue and white jar, on a
beautiful glass table, holding Hydrangeas or just showing off on it's
own. My home has become a hue of neutral colours and whites, and I feel that
somewhere, the introduction of a selection of one (or two) of these jars
will create a pop on colour that will stand out against my much loved
calm backdrop.
Originally, from China these Jars were used to hold not only Ginger, but
oils and spices too. They were gifts for emperors and sometimes grooms back then and have not lost their air of majesty now, often adorning
tables and acting as elaborate lampshades. This is my Monday ode to the Ginger Jar and my reminder to keep my eyes open for a huge, beautiful one.
