Things that make me happy

This morning I came across this blog Purple Area which displays a collection of beautiful interiors. Here is a collection of images that I wanted to keep and be inspired by. They all triggered different thoughts and memories in my head. They made me think of what I wished for, how I wanted to be or where I wanted to be. I have tried to jot down under each image what I liked or what made me happy.

I love the rafters
I love the old shutters
I love the furniture, the African side table and the chair.
I love the textures, the materials and screed floor, with the wooden pieces
I want to be here, with lots of friends, having a white-wine spritzer and laughing. This image reminds me a Langebaan, trips to Paternoster and the sea- being sun-burt.
I love the Timber walls
The cotton- real, white crisp beautiful cotton!
The promise of an outdoor shower on a hot evening in the Bush, with the sounds of crickets ( my ultimate)
The smell of luxurious shower soaps
The promise of a holiday!

I want a wall of dreams- I love images- I collect them and file them in books and files and and all around me Images pinned , torn from magazines, snapped on my camera  my phone, just collected, images to Inspire, to look at, to remember.

When we have stopped moving and renovating I want to pin every single one I have kept for so long on the hugest pin board ever! I can not wait!

Timber floors, the smell, the warmth.
Piles of magazines- these are my weakness. I pour over them every time I feel relaxed
Tables of Trinkets, found on auctions.
Muted tones
Walls of old Mirrors

Vaulted Ceilings
High and white and spacious
Throws and couches
Gleaming floors- The colours that my Mom loves.

Running water sounds- my best- so important, so soothing,
reminds me of the Alhambra
Walls of green. The smell of plants and crisp linen.

A desk with a view is what I want for work
Glass Jars, filled with things and beauty
A space, relaxing and calm to work and envision.

A sunny spot! this is the end of me- come Sunday, if I find a spot flooded with sun, especially in winter, be sure, that is where I remain.

The blue tiles remind me of the fond memories I have gathered from trips to Spain- they remind me of Gaudi and holidays with my Dad and with R

Timber decking- reminds me of the Zambezi and Jetty's and lying on a jetty with my sisters in Mauritius, peeking through the holes at the funny fish.

Mosquito Nets- need I say more? They remind me of being happy in Zimbabwe and sleeping and just being so relaxed.
Interiors that have a feeling of being lived in, yet exotic.
The romance of a Morroco. The feeling of an amazing Auction find!
White, neutral tones.
Rafters and ceiling beams and patterned tile, cool under your feet.

Hats on the floor, no shoes on your feet, surrounded by family.
Long lazy lunches- fresh salads, sea breezes, afternoon sleeps, feeling happy and tipsy and warm and relaxed...
Hidden courtyards- cobbled streets, Tuscan colours. The promise of discovering, of  travel of being Inspired through the magic of places and cultures unknown.
This reminds me of trips to Italy when I was younger- of pasta!

Puffy duvets. Crumpled, clean and crisp. snoozing and dreaming.
Having no furniture, using what you can find- All the promise of the future!

Cable knit- this reminds me of my late Gran.
Pens and Pencils, books and papers, this reminds me of my dad, our love for Stationary of R and his ability to write.

Lofts and rafters- this reminds me of childhood visits with my sisters to a house in Posberg- of sleeping in a loft, of the feeling of excitement that you have when you are a child, in a new place, with the sounds of the sea outside.

Images enjoyed and sourced from various posts on the  blog Purple Area
