Bastille Day in Franschoek is one of my favourite "weekend-excursions" in Cape Town. I love the French-inspired Gees, the people, the red, white and blue and the Champagne! These are some Parisian interiors that I have put together in the anticipation of the weekend.

I'm looking for a wonderful, transporting book to read at the moment- and I loved the image above of all these with their dust-covers, doesn't it just want to make you visit a second-hand book-shop and stack beautiful books? Any book ideas anyone can recommend?

  1. Have you read "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen yet? its brilliant

Or for something more flyffy, maybe try out "Garden Spells" by Sarah Addison Allen

or check my book blog for some ideas: http://www.beingbrazenbooks.blogspot.com

  2. I just bought a South African book called African Cookboy by David Dinwoodie Irving and it looks great. Will let you know more when I start reading. love your French images above and the stck of books! I adore second hand bookstores and just came from Books Galore in West Beach (fab store) about to post on my CT Blog! Very bad for the bank...sigh!
