One of my favourite things to do when driving to the Garden route, is to stop over at Swellendam, (it's just far away from Cape Town to deserve a lunch, and far enough away from Knysna /Plett to not spoil the promise of Oyters!)
especially at a little restaurant, on the banks of the Koornlands river, which i can highly recommend, called "La Belle Alliance" (the chicken pie and milktart is a must).
Swellendam makes me feel like I've found a little "overseas" town in the heart of the Overberg.
Its beautiful little houses and buildings always make me want to draw and photograph.
R waited for me after a lunch and I did a little run-around-photo-shoot of all these historical gems!
One can't visit the Overberg without indulging!
