I have decided to share some of the images and inspirations that I was transported by on a recent trip to one of my most magical European destinations, Spain.
This was my second trip to Spain in the last 2 years, and once again, I was not at all disappointed by the Spanish fantasy I had built in my head since my last trip,
Sangria, cobbled streets, Tapas, Mies van der Rohe, the entoxicating sounds of a Spanish Guitar, orange blossomed trees that grow into the smells of the air, Moorish magic, mosaics, hot chocolate, thick enough to give a spoon the opportunity to stand, olive oil, and just the simply beautiful architecture everywhere you look are some of the images that clog up my head when I travel to Spain in my mind... and yes, as MVR so aptly put it, "God is in the details", I couldn't but imagine that this was a phrase the Architect of simplicity had thought as he walked down a cobbled Barri-Gotic ally and looked up to see the neatly arranged mosaic under the little Juliet balconies that seem to wave at each other through drying washing, or if it was when he might have glanced at the Spanish fixation of adding a glamorously entwined wrought-iron balustrade to the simplest of stairs.

Spain was magical, detailed, romantic, exotic and inspiring all at once and some of these small pieces of wonderful-ness, I’d like to share....
The cobbled streets of Granada, Gaudis magical pavements that make just trodding along seem like an experience of "walking on art" ,embellish the Barcalona pedestrain walkways, the mosaics that adorn the bottom of balconies so that there seems to be even a 5th elevation to the enchanting streets ,and, of course, the precision of Mies.
Spanish chillies hanging in the markets, bridges, Sangria, the wrought-iron shadows of an entwined gate and the serpentine chair that Gaudi built, a mosaiced bench that some how alows any type figure to melt into it's curvacious profile and allow a tile to feel soft!

The famous "Umbrella" building flanking Las Ramblas, The Parc Guell, Darling and the stark beautifulness of a clear glazed window in a stained glass-type application frame... The simple space under the Parc Guells outdoor terrace thats held by the serpentine bench is one of my most special spaces i have found myself in yet....
Details in walls, Gaudi sketches , one of many moments of magic... and of course, paella!
Gargoyles with the weight of the world, market freshness, Barcelona local and the water features that capture the essence of Moorish Spain.
